The food processing industry is the top French industrial sector, providing the second largest employment rate in France. France’s largest industrial food processing event is the Cfia exhibition which is held every year in Rennes at the heart of the Breton food-processing industry. The first Cfia exhibition was held in 1997 and has since grown, with 1,300 exhibitors and over 13,000 visitors at last year’s event.
The exhibition is a platform where all trades of food processing are represented, and are divided into three categories: Ingredients & Processed Foods, Equipment & Processes, and Packing & Conditioning. In this year’s edition of the Cfia, Russell Finex will again showcase a range of their high quality separation equipment, including the Russell Liquid Solid Separator™, the Finex 22™ sieve and a Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter®.
The Liquid Solid Separator™ will be shown in full operation. This separator continuously removes solids or fibrous materials from liquids and is often used in the food industry to separate curd or whey. Recently the machine has also found its purpose in the filtration of effluent water within the production lines. The Liquid Solid Separator™ has a small footprint and can separate up to 100,000 l/h making this machine a cost-effective solution.
The Finex 22™ is a sieving unit which can be used for safety screening and accurate grading of powders or granules. High-speed versions are also available for screening difficult powders and high viscosity liquids. In the food industry the Finex 22™ is used for different applications such as the dewatering of slurries.
The Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter® accurately removes solids down to 10µm from liquids and slurries. A common application of this industrial filter in the food industry is the filtration of liquid chocolate. This industrial filter has become a popular choice because of the benefits it has over other liquid filters. Its in-line design allows an easy installation within existing pipework. The filter also maintains the temperature of the product, with its jacketed pipework, keeping the chocolate liquefied.
