Correct method of cleaning
Each product is different and therefore the correct method for cleaning your mesh frame will differ from application to application. There are many different ways for cleaning your mesh frame one being ultrasonics like the Russell Vibrasonic® Deblinding System. However when looking at manual cleaning, the most widely used method is to first wash the mesh frame, then lightly clean it with a suitable cleaning agent and finally blown dry with compressed air. Whatever cleaning method you use the most important thing to remember when cleaning a mesh frame is that you must prevent the loss of tension in the screen, if it becomes slack it will reduce your sieves separation efficiency. There are a wide variety of meshing techniques available and it is important you choose the correct one that best suits your application.
Keep mesh clear during operation
If product builds up on the mesh during operation the mesh will block, this will stop the product from passing through the mesh. If left, the product will continue to build up resulting in increased weight on the mesh. Over time this will reduce the mesh tension causing inefficient sieving and reduce the life of your mesh. To prevent mesh blinding use a deblinding method such as the Russell Vibrasonic® Deblinding System or a mechanical deblinding system.
Handling and storage
Have a dedicated storage facility for your mesh frames. Handle the mesh frames with care and avoid touching the mesh, hold the frame when handling. The Russell Frame Guard™ is one way to help store your frames, protecting them from both contamination and damage.
Correct weight setting on your vibratory sieve
Having the correct weight setting on your machine will ensure the product is on the mesh for the appropriate amount of time (also known as the dwell time). If the weight setting is incorrect the product will stay on the mesh for longer resulting in product build up and increased weight on the mesh. Over time this will reduce the mesh tension. Correct wire diameter
Choosing the correct wire diameter for your application is very important. In general the thinner the wire diameter, the bigger the open area. This is most desirable as a higher throughput can be achieved. However, dependent on the product and method of feed, this can result in more frequent mesh breakages, as the mesh cannot cope with the product weight. In this instance a larger wire diameter is required, the drawback to this is a reduction in open area meaning a reduction in throughput, however the mesh is likely to last longer.
