Flour producer sieves one ton of legume flour per hour and packages up to ten tons per hour

Legumi’Pulse is a specialist producer of flour and vegetable proteins. Based in Hauts-de-France, France, the company produces healthy and natural flours using peas and fava beans. It also carries out protein extraction with two fractions, one high in protein and another high in starch.

Nuttens Services is a sister company to Legumi’Pulse that provides packaging and warehousing services. It packs agri-food powders and granules in packaging or bags from 10 to 1,200 kilograms, according to customer specifications. The company also ensures the quality and safety of ingredients through sieving and the removal of foreign particles.

Legumi’Pulse’s production process includes a seedhulling stage to separate husks from the flour. The flour then passes through a fine grinding step with separation to classify the product into three levels. There are also two safety sieving steps to prevent agglomerates, one for the protein line and the other for the starch line.

The flour producer faced several challenges with its sieving method. Due to vibration, the chassis of the sieving equipment became desoldered and parts of the equipment cracked. As a result of the limited lifespan of the lids and hoppers, the company had to frequently purchase replacement parts.

After understanding the benefits of using Russell Finex technology, Legumi’Pulse purchased a Finex Separator™ to grade flour into three fractions, plus two Russell Compact Sieve® units for flour quality control.

Nuttens Services also purchased several Russell Finex products to support its packaging stations. It invested in two Russell Compact Sieve® units for its two 10-ton-per-hour conditioners, a Russell Blow Thru Sieve™ for pneumatic conveying when unloading trucks, and a Russell Compact Sieve® for small volume screening.

Thanks to these investments the manufacturer now produces around one ton per hour of legume flour using the flour screening units. For packaging, the company can now process up to 10 tons per hour.
