Metal powder manufacturer improves screening output by 40%
One of India’s largest manufacturers and exporters of ferrous and non-ferrous metal powders supplies a range of customers across multiple sectors, including engineering, automotive, and infrastructure.
The manufacturer uses water atomization to produce its range, and metal powder screening is required at multiple stages during production.
Due to the high demand for metal powders, the manufacturing facility found itself in continuous operation. As a result, the company was keen to improve the production environment, of which the powder sieves were a critical element.
The metal producer recognized that the noise generated by the sieves was too high, potentially impacting the health of operators who managed the production process. In addition, although dust collectors were used, the design of their previous sieve allowed powder to spread throughout the facility during screening and separation. As a result, the manufacturer had to clean the site regularly to minimize the impact of the contamination.
A Russell Finex sales engineer visited the manufacturers’ site and identified the Finex Ultima™ as the ideal metal powder sieve. They then purchased six Finex Ultima™ 30” units and one Finex Ultima™ 48” unit to use across the multiple sieving and separation stages for its ferrous metal powder production.
Since implementing the Russell Finex machines, the manufacturer has solved its noise challenge thanks to the quiet operation of the seven Finex Ultima™ units and has seen a significant increase in the productivity of the sieves. The powder manufacturer has seen a 30-40% improvement in yield since moving to the Russell Finex sieves.
