Chinese additive manufacturing plant halves its additive manufacturing (AM) powder processing time

As additive manufacturing continues to grow in China, the Chengdu Tianqi Industry Group is focused on building reputable 3D printing centers to meet demand. Established in 2018, the group strived to improve its screening efficiency and operator safety, while minimizing product waste. Having  previously screened their titanium AM powder using a manual sieve,  Tianqi Additive turned to Russell Finex for an automated alternative.

Recommended by an experienced sales engineer, the Russell AMPro® Lite proved to be an ideal solution for the company’s powder handling requirements. The machine was used to reclaim powder from the printing machine alongside two other AM processing machines. By further automating their powder processing, operator involvement was minimized allowing the group to focus on other tasks. This was achieved by the reclaim powder being automatically loaded into the sieve from the printer via a convey module. At the same time, the Russell AMPro® Lite screened AM powder at a significantly faster rate so it could be moved on to the next stage of processing more quickly.

The quality of the processed powder was also improved by ensuring more consistent  particle sizing. This design also improved hygiene by allowing easy disassembly and cleaning of the unit thanks to the sieve’s minimal contact parts.
