Screening Binder Jetting AM Industry Powders

3D printing screening system for metal, sand, ceramic and polymer powders used in binder jetting

Binder jetting is an additive manufacturing process that uses a powder and liquid binding agent to build a component. Common powders used in binder jetting include MIM (metal injection moulding) powder, ceramics, polymers and sand - dependent on the characteristics of the part being manufactured. The liquid binding agent is deposited onto the powder layer by layer, before the build is placed into an oven for curing. Once complete, the unbound powder is removed, leaving the finished component. However, due to the resin present in some of these unbound quantities of powder, it can be especially difficult to sieve. The Russell AMPro® Sieve Station has been specifically designed to recover, screen and recycle this unbound 3D printing powder directly from the build box, providing a convenient and high-capacity solution to screening typically difficult-to-sieve 3D printing materials before reuse.

A range of other 3D printing powder screeners are also available for sieving the powders used in binder jetting.
