Russell Finex raise over £1450 and cycle over 250 miles in 12 hours.
On Friday 21st March Russell Finex participated in a 12 hour bikeathon to raise money for Sport Relief 2014. Sport Relief is a fundraising initiative to get the whole nation active with events in cycling, swimming and running being held throughout the country over three days. At Russell Finex participants from every department in the company were gearing up to join this great sporting event. Before the event started the Russell Racers had set a target to race for 12 hours hoping to reach 180 miles while collecting £1000.
The day started at 6:30am and it was a brilliant start with Russell Racers pedalling furiously to surpass the 15 miles an hour required to reach the target. Throughout the day members of the Russell Racers jumped on and off the bike in an attempt to reach the target of 180 miles in 12 hours. The event was streamed live from our test house facilities which allowed colleagues and customers to check out the progress throughout the day, while also witnessing some very interesting cycling gear and a few shout outs along the way.
Just after 11:00am the Russell Racers had broken through the 100 mile barrier, with the 180 mile target being reached just after 15:00pm.
After 12 hours in the saddle the Russell Racers reached a tremendous milestone of 256 miles, 76 miles more than first planned and the distance between London and Paris. This feat was supported by many people including friends, family, colleagues, customers and suppliers and the final target of rasing £1000 was exceeded with £1496 being raised so far.
