Company raise £2000 for Sport Relief 2016 as five teams went to battle in the Russell Finex Team Triathlon
In support of this year’s Sport Relief, Friday 18th March saw staff compete in the Russell Finex Sport Relief 2016 Team Triathlon. Having fundraised through ‘bikeathons’ for Comic Relief and Sport Relief in previous years, this time five teams set out to cover as much ground as possible - running, cycling and rowing - in the name of charity. After five hours of competition, and over 230km (142 miles) covered, ‘Russell’s Finext’ were announced as the winning team.
The victors, captained by Russell Finex Production Manager David Brown, covered a total distance of 54.85km in 45 minutes. In second place was ‘RFL – Ready For Leading’ at 48.52km, third was ‘Russell’s Muscles’ at 45.01km, fourth ‘Russell Rhinos’ 
42.75km and fifth ‘The Avengers’ with 40.23km. 30 members of staff took part in the triathlon, and colleagues from across the Russell Group pledged their support, as a live stream allowed customers, family and friends to tune in and watch the event unfold, as well as donate money to their chosen team. David Brown said “The triathlon was a great way of bringing people together and raising lots of money for such a worthwhile cause. Sport Relief is a huge event, with so many things happening across the country, so it’s great for Russell Finex to be involved.”
As well as sponsorships and donations, money was raised through a bake sale and sports predictor challenge throughout the week. In total, £2000 was raised for Sport Relief, a record charity total for Russell Finex. The money raised will support vulnerable people in both the UK and the world's poorest countries.
