Russell Finex’s Cycle Challenge to Belgium raises £1,350 for charity
This year Russell Finex’s Cycle Challenge for Sport Relief raised a huge £1,350.58. Having raised thousands of pounds in the past for Sport Relief and Comic Relief the Russell Finex team set themselves the challenge of cycling the distance from the UK headquarters to the subsidiary in Belgium with stationary gym bikes in Russell Finex’s testing facilities.
Across 7 hours and 15 minutes, Russell Finex staff cycled nearly 251 miles meaning they cycled the distance to the Belgian subsidiary’s office in Mechelen, Belgium as the crow flies – a huge effort from all involved!
As part of the challenge teams of Russell Finex staff competed to see who could travel the furthest average distance by session. The team which also raised the most money would also have their total matched by Russell Finex. The winning teams were the “Flamingoes” who collectively cycled an average of 4.55 miles each session travelled across their team sessions and “The Dynamos” who raised £232.13 between four team members.
Alongside the cycle challenge Russell Finex staff also raised a further £162.83 for the cause via its healthy bake sale and wear your sport shirt to work.
Rob O’Connell, Sales & Marketing Director for UK, Belgium and China Operations, remarked “Once again Russell Finex staff rose the occasion to support the vital work Sport Relief provides and it was great to see staff coming together across all departments and getting active on the day.”
Sport Relief has been changing the lives of vulnerable families worldwide, with the money raised enabling happier, healthier and safer lives. This year £40 million was raised for Sport Relief and over 13 million people have benefitted from the money raised over the years.
Russell Finex is committed to supporting local, national and international causes, and would like to thank those who took part and supported Russell Finex’s efforts for Sport Relief 2020.
