Sieving generally ranks low in the order of investment costs, but the necessity for accurate particle size separation in the manufacturing of fine powders cannot be overstated. The blinding or blocking of mesh is common problem when sieving difficult powders on screens of 300 micron and below. When blocking occurs, the useful screening area is reduced and therefore capacity drops. This structure will be compounded when the screen is manually cleaned as this often results in the mesh becoming damaged or broken.
