Sieving lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide powder (NMC)

Our Finex Ultima™ achieves purity and uniform particle size distribution for cathode powder

Lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) is a fine, black-grey powder used as a cathode active material (CAM) in lithium-ion batteries because of its high energy density, stability, and long cycle life.

NMC is a challenging powder to sieve because of its ultra-fine particle size, dense nature, and natural tendency to form hard agglomerates. These properties frequently cause mesh blinding and disrupt material flow during screening. Precise sieving before use in battery manufacturing is essential to achieve a uniform particle size for high-quality electrode coating, optimal battery performance, and enhanced safety.

In this demo video, our Finex Ultima™ is used to screen NMC cathode powder and effectively removes oversized particles, ensuring an accurate particle size for optimized battery performance. Equipped with an ultrasonic mesh deblinding system, this breaks down agglomerates and prevents mesh blockage, even with fine, dense powders. The result is a consistent, high-quality fine powder ready to be used in the cathode slurry preparation stage of battery manufacturing.

Engineered for high-volume battery material processing, our Finex Ultima™ is a cost-effective separator delivering up to 70% more productivity. Its advanced vibratory drive and rubber suspensions make it ideal for handling dense, fine powders like NMC with precision and speed.
