Russell Finex raises £2500 for Red Nose Day 2023
Keeping with our yearly tradition, the Russell Finex team took part in various activities to raise money for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 2023. This year, the team raised an impressive £2500 for the UK based charity. Comic Relief seeks to drive positive change through the power of entertainment to: tackle the injustices that keep people in poverty, alleviate poverty’s consequences and grip on people’s daily lives and stand with those in poverty who are most harmed by climate change.
Having fundraised in the past through events such as Office Olympics, bake-offs and competitive bowling tournaments, this year the company held a bikeathon, putting the team’s stamina to the test. Our amazing racers managed to smash the target of 180km in 6 hours – equivalent to the distance from the company’s headquarters in Feltham, London to the Roman Baths in the city of Bath. On top of that, a bake sale was held, where tasty treats and cakes baked by colleagues were on sale to everyone at the company, and many staff members also took part in ‘wear red day’, where they donned their dazzling red outfits while donating to the charity.
The main event – the sponsored bikeathon - ran from 9am-4pm, with a team of 20 employees pushing themselves to cycle as many miles as they could within 15 minutes. This event was streamed live, allowing fellow colleagues, friends and family to tune in and cheer on the team as they took turns to cycle their 15-minute slots, one by one. The cyclists who managed to rack up the highest distances in that time were Jed Cortinas, Renata Pranciule and Javier Pampin, all managing to peddle over 9km during their slots.

The money raised for Red Nose Day is used by Comic Relief to transform the lives of millions across the country and beyond, helping alleviate the world from poverty one step at a time by helping those in need.
