Self-cleaning Russell Eco Filter® removes contamination from rice paste used in baby cereal to improve product quality
Rice cereal is a common first food for babies once they reach 6 months. Containing B vitamins and minerals, rice cereal provides most of the energy and nutritional value infants need. Compared to other grains, rice cereal is also a favorable choice as it’s less likely to trigger an allergic reaction.
One leading food factory in China, specializing in the production of rice cereal, sought help from Russell Finex to ensure their product met stringent food health and safety regulations. Since the factory opened, demand for its products, including milk powders, cereals and infant formula increased, calling for the need to optimize their production line.
Having never used a filtration machine in their production line, they trialed both the Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter® and Russell Filter Management System™ in their processing line. After a successful trial, the filter was used to filter out oversize and contamination from the rice paste before being heat treated. The filtration equipment also managed to process an impressive 6 tonnes/hr meaning a significant boost in production.
To streamline production, the Russell Filter Management System™ was utilized to monitor the filtration process, minimizing operator involvement. Automating this task also meant operators could focus on other tasks while eliminating the potential risk of hazardous exposure. The filter’s reusable filter elements also proved to be a cost-effective solution by eliminating the replacement and disposal costs of filter bags.
